Boogie Woogie Nepal
Boogie Woogie, a dance reality show which was created and directed by two Indian actors Naved Jaffrey and Ravi Behl has reached an admirable height. The show has completed its seventh season since it was started on 1996 via Sony Entertainment Television in India.
Now, it has been brought to Nepal by non-other than AP1 HD Television which has started to bring in international franchise shows in Nepal. The ‘Idol’ franchise, ‘Nepal Idol’ celebrated a successful first season few months ago. And now, Boogie Woogie Nepal, the first franchise dance reality show presented by ‘Oppo’ has started a journey to find the genuine dancers of Nepal. Moreover, it has almost been confirmed that the best singing reality show throughout the world ‘The Voice’ will also be brought in Nepal very soon.

- The 150 selected candidates were called for another audition in Kathmandu itself.
- With an another solo audition, top 50 candidates were choosen

The Judges:
- Dilip Rayamajhi
The Nineties kids know who Dilip Raymajhi is. He was one of the most loved actors at that time, especially through his dance performances. He is also a choreographer and dance director. No wonder, he got the hot seat for being one of the judges of Boogie Woogie Nepal. It was a perfect timing for him to return to Nepali media after quite a long time.
“There was no any suitable stage for our Nepali dancers to compete in International level. For coming up with this great platform, I would like to thank AP1 HD TV a lot.”
- Priyanka Karki
Priyanka Karki surely is the queen of Nepali movie industry. Being an actor, model, Miss Teen Nepal, aspiring singer and dancer, her dedication towards the Nepali movie industry has always been appreciated. No doubt, AP1 HD had to choose her as a judge for this reality show.
“I have always been motivating Nepali youths to follow their passion and dreams regardless the outdated mentality of the parents who wants their children to become Doctor or Engineer. Kudos to AP1 for starting this show.”
- Kabiraj Gahatraj
Kabiraj Gahatraj is one of the best choreographers in Nepal. The choreographs for the songs of the movie ‘Chakka Panja’, Kutu ma kutu and Kale Dai have been his latest best ones. Boogie Woogie Nepal needed a genuine choreographer apart from actors to judge the performances of the contestants and he, indeed is the best one.
“There was a very dire need of a good platform for Nepali dancers here. Now that Boogie Woogie has started, I don’t think they will have to go for some international dancing platforms to participate.”
The Stage and Ambiance
Unlike other international reality shows, shows in Nepal used to be very shallow because of the quality of the stage and the ambiance regardless the performance of the contestants. But, Boogie Woogie has somehow changed that perspective. In the first episode, we could see the well decorated stage. The best thing was the story based setup on the stage during every performance. That displayed the level, the standard of the franchise show. We hope we will be able to see such well-decorated quality ambiance in coming episodes. And, also in other reality shows which are in pipeline.

Admin’s note:
It’s not that there were no dancing/singing reality shows in Nepal. There were, but, they did not get much exposure in Nepali media. Because of which, they couldn’t pull out the best talents from every corner of the country. The contestants used to be in very lesser number, the stage and setup used to be very poor; that’s how the show doesn’t use to become popular. But, since AP1 HD has started to bring international franchise shows in Nepal, the face of Nepali media and the nature of such shows has changed tremendously. We can see the level of standard and the quality these shows like ‘Nepal Idol’ and ‘Boogie Woogie Nepal’ has got. Obviously, ‘The Voice of Nepal’ will also have that quality. As said by the judges, now, Nepal also has a platform that can bring out the hidden talents in Nepali youths and compete in international level.
It seems promising enough for the dancers in Nepal. We wish ‘Boogie Woogie Nepal’ will be that one platform.
Good luck to Boogie Woogie Nepal.
Good luck to AP1 HD television.
