Okay, let’s spare just 5 min. from our precious time and look over the current affairs that are circling in our country.
Dr. KC and his hunger strike
It’s a germane fact that the most hot topic in every day’s headline nowadays is Dr. Govinda KC’s eighth fast-unto-death.
What he is doing is putting his own life in stake and being ready to sacrifice for the betterment of medical sector in Nepal. Yes! He is being the lone crusader. He doesn’t want any political interference and corruption in medical education neither does he want anyone to die in the lack of a tablet in rural areas. Every student who wants to build his career in medical field must be able to study the same despite any financial weakness.
One of his demands for this eighth one is the impeachment of the chief commissioner of CIAA who according to him is accused of meddling unnecessarily in medical education system for his personal gain.
Such a pure and selfless agenda he has put forward. See it’s very simple; his hunger strike is for no personal gain nor any foundation or any political party’s. He is doing all this for Nepal and Nepali people.
So, the question is why the Nepal government, the parliament is turning its ear from his genuine and selfless demands? Why there came this need of EIGHTH fast-unto-death even? Why wasn’t it solved in first or second or third? And why the government is playing hide and seek with his demands?
Today, 23rd July, 2016 thousands of Nepalese took out mass rally in Kathmandu to show solidarity for Dr. KC and put pressure on government to address his demands ASAP as his health condition is degrading more and more.
What government is busy with?
But, what government and the political parties are busy in is arguing with each other regarding whether to let the Oli led government to continue or handover the duties to the CPN (Maoist) and Nepali congress. What they are discussing is whether to table budget bill or look over the no-confidence motion against the PM. But, still except few none is interested in discussing on the agendas put forward by the fasting doctor.
More on the list
One more thing that was being a controversial topic last week was very ridiculous.
It’s been more than a year since the disastrous quack hit Nepal; government has been unable to provide relief fund and step ahead for reconstruction. Plus, there’s Mahabir Pun who is being determined to take Nepal one more step ahead in the field of technology. He wants to open an innovation center for which, despite the pleasing requests he hasn’t been able to collect any kind of help from the government. Moreover, there are hundreds of entrepreneurs needing investors and financial aid to uplift every sector with all the skills they have.
But, what government found to provide budget was ‘google boy’ who is believed to be a future teller. Ok, he is a disabled child and he needs help for the diagnosis but it doesn’t mean that government will distribute the budget so recklessly to any foundation. There are hundreds of such people to whom the government should look after.
Whatever the cases are, for now being a Nepali citizen, let’s hope that the parliament will do something bold to address the fasting doctor’s demands and save his precious life. Because no such person might get birth in decades and more.
