Disclaimer (Movie Loot 2 Review):
Don’t read it if you haven’t watched the movie. It might be a spoiler.
The movie “Loot“, which somehow changed the trend of Nepali movie industry and the perspective of Nepali people towards Nepali movies, was undoubtedly a blockbuster. As soon as the Director of the movie, Nischal Basnet announced about releasing the sequel of the same as “Loot 2”, people’s excitation and eagerness were at peak. Moreover, the expectation for the movie to be more entertaining with better action, story, thrill and twist was too damn high. I repeat, the EXPECTATION was too damn HIGH.
Like everyone, I was also desperately waiting for the movie to be released. But, as I watched the movie, in the end, I did not find my expectations fulfilled. I was totally discontented. I felt like the movie was only made for being more lucrative as the effects of “Loot” would definitely lure viewers to the theater. The reasons to give thumbs up to the movie were somehow outnumbered by the reasons to put the thumbs down.
So, today I shall talk about the things which I found good enough to praise as well as those which dissatisfied me as a normal viewer.
Weaknesses of the movie:
Same old story:
The story was same; again looting a bank, Hakku Kale being the cunning fox and other four actors, the fools once again. However, the scenario was chosen to be the best one which was ‘Border Blockade’. Something new other than breaking a bank would have been far interesting.
The twist, at last, is too lame:
The presentation of the plan to break into the bank, creating the circumstances to steal and that particular scene of replacing the box were too poor. The end, which was supposed to be thrilling one was not as expected.
The movie has deviated from its genre:
What the viewers expect after watching Loot are: cool action, a seamless flow, mysterious story with a thrilling end. But, apprently Loot 2 seems to be only an entertaining movie with more comedy scenes than required.
The lack of presentation of the main subject:
The first half of the movie ends with futile things; the four victims from ‘Loot’ searching for Hakku Kale, showing their annoyance, too much fight scenes and all. I felt like that was way more than actually needed. And the main subject, the plan to execute the loot was not provided enough time.
Injustice with Reecha Sharma:
I don’t know why but Reecha Sharma (a great actress)’s role time in the movie was too less keeping the mystery of her ongoing life unfolded. It added one more reason to be disappointed.
I’m weak in explaining this but I believe you must have noticed it by yourself.
Good things about the movie:
There were some good things about the movie as well. But, I feel so bad to state that they are only handful in number. Listing them out would be like as below:
- Cute Alisha Rai‘s introduction to Nepali movie industry (She’s gonna get a nice space in the industry for sure),
- The other face of Bipin Karki (Bindu, Bhasme, Phadindra and Pitale don; he’s proving his versatility more and more),
- Kameshwor Chaurasiya as ‘Baam’ with much wider role (this guy will also hit the movie market very soon),
- Some of the funny scenes featuring ‘Putali’ and ‘Haku Kale’ (Srijana Subba and Saugat Malla respectively) and
- Obviously, the item song ‘Thamel Bazar‘.
Well, this was what I felt after watching the movie. Everyone has his/her own view, isn’t it? What do you think? If you found it good enough, then it’s good. If you also felt the same, then give thumbs up.
